Pregnancy massage aims to provide comfort, relaxation and a supportive environment to mothers. Your massage therapist will help you find the most comfortable position for treatment.

    • At Integral Health & Wellness we are equipped with pregnancy support cushions which allow you to lie on your belly safely. Side lying and supported face up or seated positions are all-available options. All our RMTs are trained in pregnancy massage, and they are aware of normal and potentially abnormal changes during pregnancy. Therapists will also give referrals to other health practitioners when necessary and provide wellness support throughout your pregnancy journey.

BEFORE TREATMENT

What You Need to Know About Your Appointment

All appointments with our Massage Therapists include an interview, assessment, treatment, homecare and follow-up recommendations.

Initial Appointment

Prior to your first visit we will send you an online intake form to complete before arriving. If you are unable to fill out the online intake form you should plan to arrive 15 minutes early for your appointment.

The forms include contact information, health-history questionnaire, reason for seeking treatment and information for any health insurance you would like to be billed.

Consent and Treatment Plan

At the start of your appointment your Massage Therapist will inform you on what to expect from the massage appointment (i.e. disrobing and draping options), any possible risks, answer questions you may have and allow you to sign a consent form.

Once consent has been obtained your Massage Therapist will proceed to briefly review your health history and determine your specific needs through dialog and assessment. This will allow your therapist to create an individualized treatment plan which they will propose to you. The therapist will then leave the room to allow you privacy to get on the treatment table. Before re-entering your therapist will knock on the door to ensure you are ready.

During Treatment

During the massage, consent is ongoing which means you may revoke consent or ask to have something changed at any time.

It is important to verbally communicate your needs with your therapist. We encourage you to let your therapist know if you are experiencing any discomfort or would like anything changed at any time.

After Treatment

After treatment, your therapist will step out of the room and allow you to get off the table and re-dress. Prior to leaving, your therapist may wish to reassess the primary treatment area to determine any changes post-treatment. Homecare exercises and or hydrotherapy may be prescribed as necessary.
